3 dead in Japanese 'detergent suicide' pact

TIME-cnn.com/asiaからJapan has had a spate of suicides including this one in Konan, where a 14-year-old girl died in April.

日本では四月に江南市で14歳の少女が自殺して以来、洗剤を混ぜ合わせ、硫化水素ｶﾞｽを発生させて自殺する事件が続発している。地方版記事によれば全国で先月そうした方法で自殺した人数は60人以上になると言う。東京の北、Tamiokaで通行人が三人の死体を発見した。西日本では月曜21歳の男がﾌﾟﾗｽﾁｯｸﾊﾞｯｸを頭から被り死亡しているいるのが発見され、須磨では死亡していた男の足元には洗剤の入れ物が有ったと言う。

今月初め、警察はｲﾝﾀｰﾈｯﾄのﾌﾟﾛﾊﾞｲﾀﾞｰに洗剤を混ぜて硫化水素を発生させるやり方を記述したﾍﾟｰｼﾞを削除するように要請した。日本はそれ以前から世界で自殺者が多い国に属しているのだ。5月初め北海道では police evacuated about 350 people from their homes on the island of Hokkaido after a neighbor mixed detergent and chemicals to kill himself.The two most recent cases did not require the evacuation of the neighborhoods where they occurred. In some cases, officials had to order residents to leave because the resulting gas from the detergent mix can sicken people.
